BB-400: Basic Research Methods
Course Description
This course will provide an opportunity for students to establish or advance their understanding of research through a critical exploration of research language, ethics, and approaches. The course introduces the language of research, ethical principles and challenges, and the elements of the research process within a quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approach. Participants will use these theoretical underpinnings to begin to critically review the literature relevant to their field of interest and determine how research findings are useful in forming their understanding of their work, social, local, and global environment.
Course Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this course, a student will be able to:- Identify the value of research in business.
- Define research, explain and apply research terms, describe the research process and the principal activities, skills, and ethics associated with the research process.
- Understand the importance of research ethics and relate research ethics to the research process.
- Understand the technical needs of both research and analysis of data.
